Turkey to Allow Reclaim on Properties

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA) Turkey’s parliament passed a law (no 5555) last week to allow properties confiscated by the state to be reclaimed by Christian and Jewish minority foundations – a key measure demanded by the European Union. The EU has long been pressing Turkey to enact measures that would allow foundations belonging to minority groups to reclaim seized assets – including churches, school buildings and orphanages. EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn hailed Turkey for adopting the law.
