(GREEK NEWS AGENDA) – The National Gallery- Alexandros Soutzos Museum will host a large retrospective exhibition of Nikos Lytras, one of the boldest representatives of early Greek Modernism. Under the title “Nikos Lytras, 1883-1927 Building with light and colour,” the exhibition will by inaugurated by the President of the Hellenic Republic on March 19 and will run until June 2.

– “Unfinished,” an exhibition which consists mainly of photographs shot in diverse towns of the Middle East, is being presented by Hrair Sarkissian at Kalfayan Gallery, from March 13 to April 5.

– The opera “An Italian in Algiers,” starring internationally acclaimed Greek mezzo-soprano Agnes Baltsa, will be performed at the Athens Concert Hall on March 14, 17, 19 and 21. It will be the historical Jean-Pierre Ponnelle’s Vienna State Opera performance, twenty years from its premiere.

– The Technopolis of Athens hosts an exhibition entitled “Olympic Torches 1936-2004” from March 14 to 19. The event is dedicated tο the Olympic Torches that transport the symbol of reconciliation and noble rivalry among the peoples.

– The Hellenic Foundation for Culture in UK presents a collection of contemporary icons by some of the leading iconographers and painters of Greece, at the Gordon gallery, in Derry, N. Ireland, until April 12.
– Canadian painter John Tenasco, an Algonquin native from Quebec, exhibits his work at Eos Art Gallery, until March 26. His works give the visitor the opportunity of a journey to the world, culture and philosophy of the Indians of Canada.
