The Hagia Sophia is ready for a grand opening, following a restoration period of sixteen years. The revamping of the Hagia Sophia Museum was a key element in Istanbul being nominated “European Capital of Culture 2010” along with the German town of Essen and the Hungarian city of Pecs.
