Attenberg…Goes for Oscar

The film Attenberg directed by Athina-Rachel Tsangari has officially been submitted as Greece’s entry for 2012 Oscar Awards in the Foreign Language Film category.
Following a Hellenic Film Academy suggestion last May, Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Yeroulanos officially announced on September 29 that the multi-awarded Attenberg will represent Greece in the 84th Academy Awards to be held on February26 in Los Angeles.

Στην ταινία “Attenberg” της Αθηνάς-Ραχήλ Τσαγκάρη το πρώτο βραβείο του φεστιβάλ “Nowe Horyzonty” του Wroclaw

Η εφημερίδα Gazeta Wyborcza (1/8), με τίτλο «Καταδιώκοντας το σώμα» και υπότιτλο «Ολοκληρώθηκε χθες το φεστιβάλ Nowe Horyzonty στο Wrocław, ο σημαντικότερος κινηματογραφικός θεσμός στην Πολωνία», δημοσιεύει ρεπορτάζ του Paweł Felis, όπου παρουσιάζονται οι ταινίες με την μεγαλύτερη επιτυχία στο φετινό φεστιβάλ.
Επισημαίνεται ότι στην ταινία «Attenberg» της Αθηνάς-Ραχήλ Τσαγκάρη απονεμήθηκε το πρώτο βραβείο, όπως αναμενόταν.
Ο αρθρογράφος εκτιμά ότι η ταινία είναι «λεπτομερειακά γραμμένη και σκηνοθετημένη και συγχρόνως σαφής».
Προβάλλονται, επίσης, απόψεις της Τσαγκάρη ότι «η οικονομική κρίση προκαλεί τους έλληνες σκηνοθέτες σε γενναίες και εντυπωσιακές αναζητήσεις».
Η εφημερίδα Rzeczpospolita (1/8), με τίτλο «Η άλλη όψη του κινηματογράφου» και υπότιτλο «Φεστιβάλ Nowe Horyzonty. Οι εκτιμήσεις της κριτικής επιτροπής αποδείχτηκαν εύστοχες» δημοσιεύει, στις πολιτιστικές σελίδες, ρεπορτάζ της Barbara Hollender, για τα πιο σημαντικά δρώμενα του φεστιβάλ, επισημαίνοντας  ότι το πρώτο βραβείο απονεμήθηκε στην ταινία «Attenberg».
Σύμφωνα με την αρθρογράφο, η σκηνοθέτης Αθηνά- Ραχήλ Τσαγκάρη «εκπροσωπεί τη νέα γενιά δημιουργών που αντιμετωπίζουν την πραγματικότητα και τους εθνικούς μύθους».
Γίνεται, επίσης, αναφορά στις αισιόδοξες προοπτικές για τον ελληνικό κινηματογράφο.

2010 Thessaloniki Film Festival

The 2010 Thessaloniki Film Festival came to an end, with the International Jury bestowing this year’s awards at the Olympion Theatre on Saturday.  The film Periferic/Outbound by Romanian director Bogdan George Apetri was the big winner, receiving the Golden Alexander (Best Feature Film), the best actress award for Ana Ularu’s performance and the Greek Film Critics Association Award. Athena Rachel Tsangaris’s Attenberg got the Silver Alexander (Special Jury) award. The Bronze Alexander, given for the first time this year, went to Jean Gentil by Laura Amelia Guzman and Israel Gardenias.  Τhe Best Director Award was received by another Romanian director, Marian Crisan for his film Morgen, which was also chosen as best film by the International Federation of Film Critics Jury (FIPRESCI). In the Greek section, the FIPRESCI award went to Apnea by Aris Balafoukas.
