Learn Greek Abroad On-Line

The teaching of Greek abroad will soon go online with a new e-learning programme being developed by the Centre of Intercultural and Migration Studies at the University of Crete.
The Centre is establishing a pilot Greek Diaspora school network that aims to eventually operate on an independent basis.
Greek teachers from schools abroad will visit Crete in July to participate in the creation of the project as partners. The teachers will participate in a two-week training programme at the University, following a 10-hour teleseminar briefing on Greek-language teaching methodology that they will undergo before their arrival. The programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs.

Learning Greek

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA)    A new project titled “You Speak Greek Already” focuses on promoting the Greek language while highlighting the common elements of the European languages. The project’s main idea is that many Greek words could be found in many languages, something which might serve as a springboard, as well as an incentive for learning the Greek language. The dissemination of the Greek language was obtained through the sciences, the grammar of the ancient Greek language and through the Bible. Indicative out that the Oxford University includes 10.500 Greek words and the sum of the Greek words in English are 136.000. The programme’s educational material will be available both in print and electronic edition on the Internet.  Centre for the Greek Language: www.greeklanguage.gr
