Preview of the New Acropolis Museum in London

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA)     A presentation of the New Acropolis Museum, organized jointly by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is taking place in London on December 2-3 (New Acropolis Museum: The London Preview). Professor Pandermalis, President of the Organization for the Construction of the New Acropolis Museum and Bernard Tschumi, lead Architect of the New Acropolis Museum will be guest speakers at the two-day event which will be held at RIBA’s Jarvis Hall, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture.  On December 3, Pandermalis and Tschumi will deliver a lecture on the “architectural challenge” that was the project of the construction of the New Acropolis Museum at a workshop intended for architecture students from all architecture departments in the United Kingdom.

A Peek At the New Acropolis Museum

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA)    The BBC News website hosts a five-minute video of a “Preview of the New Acropolis Museum.” The President of the Organisation for the Construction of the New Acropolis Museum, Archaeology Professor Dimitrios Pandermalis and BBC’s correspondent in Athens, Malcolm Brabant, take a stroll on the premises of the New Acropolis Museum and visit the Hall reserved for the Parthenon Marbles (those in Athens and copies of those in the British Museum) as well as the specially designed, transparent floor where a visitor can walk on the ruins of ancient and Byzantine Athens. Professor Pandermalis highlights the advantages of the space selected for the construction of the Museum given the view that it offers towards the monument of Acropolis. The Museum is scheduled to open its gates to the public in autumn.

The New Acropolis Museum in L.A.

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA)   The Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles, the Cotsen Institute of Archeology at UCLA and the UCLA Classics Department yesterday held a public lecture and a photo exhibition on the New Acropolis Museum, with the President of the Organisation for the Construction of the New Acropolis Museum, Prof. D. Pandermalis and world-renown architect of the New Acropolis Museum, Bernard Tschumi as guest speakers. The exhibition “Ancient Treasures in Modern Spaces: The New Acropolis Museum” includes breathtaking views of the Acropolis as well as a 360-degree panorama of modern and historic Athens.
