A collection of photographs from 1853 to date depicting archaeological sites and monuments and reflecting particular archaeological concerns of each era, goes on display at the Benaki Museum from December 3, 2008 to January 25, 2009, under the title “The Creative Photograph in Archaeology.” A conference on the same subject will be organized by the Museum on November 30 addressing issues such as the contribution of creative archaeological photography in research and teaching, the artistic impulse in relation to reality and archaeological documentation and the projection of Greece’s broader image through photographs of archaeological sites and monuments.
