(GREEK NEWS AGENDA) Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis welcomed yesterday (June 22) in Athens the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, Phạm Gia Khiêm. “The official visit of Phạm Gia Khiêm […] is an indication of our increasing cooperation on political and economic levels,” stressed Bakoyannis, emphasizing the important role of Vietnam in “building” peace, stability, and development in Southeast Asia. On his part, Khiêm, whose country is currently member of the UN Security Council, said that Vietnam is interested in the resolution of the Cyprus issue within the framework of the United Nations.

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA) Deputy Foreign Minister Petros Doukas signed three Greek-Vietnamese bilateral cooperation agreements yesterday in Hanoi, Vietnam, specifically: an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments; a memorandum of understanding furthering consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries on the information exchange and international cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding in the energy sector, favouring joint ventures and investment promotion. Finally, other sectors discussed include ship-building, agricultural product processing, fish farming, construction materials, and tourism.
