Τουριστικό αφιέρωμα στη Βόρεια Ελλάδα σε πολωνικό περιοδικό

Το μηνιαίο ανδρικό περιοδικό Gentleman, με τίτλο «Δημοκρατία του Δία», δημοσιεύει τετρασέλιδο αφιέρωμα της Elżbieta Pawełek και του Zygmunt Chwast στη Θεσσαλονίκη, την Καβάλα και την Θάσο, το οποίο συνοδεύεται από πληθώρα έγχρωμων φωτογραφιών από τους Φιλίππους, την Θάσο και τις ακτές της βόρειας Ελλάδας.
Στην εισαγωγή του δημοσιεύματος υπογραμμίζονται τα εξής : «Η Γαλλία έχει το δικό της Έβερεστ, η Ιταλία το Mont Blanc, ενώ η Μακεδονία τον Όλυμπο, την κατοικία των θεών. Γιατί επέλεξαν αυτό το μέρος; Διότι εδώ υπάρχουν τα πάντα: χρυσές ακτές, ηλιόλουστα νησιά και καταπληκτικές ταβέρνες με θαλασσινά».

Στην ενότητα που τιτλοφορείται «Το άρωμα της ανατολής», οι αρθρογράφοι περιγράφουν την περιήγησή τους στην Καβάλα, την οποία στην αρχαιότητα είχε επισκεφθεί και ο Απόστολος Παύλος κατά την πρώτη ιεραποστολή του στην Ευρώπη. Επίσης αναφέρονται στην πολιτιστική κληρονομιά των Τούρκων και τη θυελλώδη ιστορία της πόλης.
Στην ενότητα «Σμαραγδένιο Νησί», οι αρθρογράφοι παροτρύνουν τους τουρίστες να επισκεφθούν την Θάσο, που αποτελεί ιδανικό προορισμό για ολιγοήμερη αναψυχή.

Στην ενότητα με τίτλο «Ταβέρνα κάτω από τα αστέρια», ειδική αναφορά γίνεται στους μεζέδες και τα κυριότερα πιάτα της ελληνικής κουζίνας. Καταληκτικά σημειώνεται ότι «όταν τα τζιτζίκια τραγουδούν σαν τρελά κατά τη διάρκεια του δείπνου και φτάνει ο ήχος των κυμάτων από την ακρογιαλιά, διότι τα τραπέζια είναι στημένα κοντά στο νερό, και πάνω από τα κεφάλια βλέπει κανείς τον έναστρο ουρανό, όλα αποκτούν μια εκλεκτή γεύση. Είμαστε περίεργοι τι θα έλεγε τώρα ο Δίας;». 

Η δημοσιογράφος Elzbieta Pawelek και ο φωτογράφος Zygmunt Chwast φιλοξενήθηκαν, κατόπιν πρότασης του Γραφείου Τύπου Βαρσοβίας, στη Θεσσαλονίκη και τη Θάσο τον Ιούνιο του 2009.

· Greece is a safe country

Supportive data: According to Legatum Prosperity Index, Greece faces comparatively few security challenges. Domestic security is favorable. Moreover, according to Eurostat, Greece is a country with a relatively low rate of criminality. The feeling of security is well established in society.
· Greece is an attractive destination.
This comes not only due to its physical beauty but mostly due to the “value for money” relationship in the provided services.
Supportive data: According to a poll, conducted in a population of 1200 people,52% of the sample believes that the quality of travel services offered in Greece are of very good standard and 42% believes that the travel services offered in Greece rival those offered in other touristdeveloped tourist markets.

· Greece is a western democracy and the majority of Greek society supports government policy.
Supportive data: A recent research conducted by Kapa Focus research company on behalf of the weekly Newspaper ‘To Vima’, shows that 55,2% of Greeks support the austerity measures imposed by the Greek Government.
·  Demonstrations are strictly local and limited events/occurrences. They take place mostly in the center of Athens, in a specific and controlled area. The mainland regions and the islands of the Greek Archipelago, where the vast majority of tourists go, are not affected at all.
Supportive data: According to Eurostat, Greece is a favourite destination. Especially, in South Aegean and Ionian Islands, it appears that 48.168 stays and 33.304 per 1000 citizens took place, a proof of satisfaction for the Greek touristic product.
· Greece is a tourist country and Greeks know the importance of hospitality.
Supportive data: Zeus, the King of the Greek Gods, according to the Greek Mythology, named as Xenios (the one who offers hospitality) Zeus.
·  The overall number of demonstrations in Greece is lower than the E.U average.
Supportive data:All demonstrations occurred in Athens, in specific and isolated areas. In their vast majority they were peaceful.

· The picture that global media paint is, to say the least, in many cases exaggerating. In many occasions, library images were re-broadcasted as live feeds.
Supportive data: Greece is a pluralist, democratic western European country. Media freedom is protected and encouraged. During the last two weeks Greece hosted more than 300 foreign journalists.

Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, at 2919 meters high, located 100 km southwest of the city of Thessaloniki in northern Greece. In Greek mythology, Mt Olympus was the abode of the Twelve Olympians. From its steep rocky summit, the site of his throne, Zeus supposedly hurled his thunderbolts against humankind. Greece’s oldest and most carefully protected national park, Mt Olympus also boasts the greatest concentration of flora and fauna, huge expanses of forest, and the crystal clear waters of the Enippeas river. The Pindos Mountains, situated in the northwest corner of Greece, are a rugged and remote region of peaks, high limestone cliffs, spectacular gorges, and rushing rivers. Visit Zagorochoria, a world of walled villages perched atop and within the thousand-foot gorge of the Vikos River, the deepest one in the world after the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Acropolis Exhibit in Berlin

(GREEK NEWS AGENDA) An exhibition titled “The Restoration of the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum” at the Berlin Pergamon Museum presents: the restoration and preservation works carried out on the monuments of the Acropolis, the new Museum created in Athens to house the exhibits, and representative finds of the excavations in the area of construction of the new museum. The display includes original ancient works found at the site of the new museum, such as portrait busts of Aristotle and Plato, statues of Isis Panthea as well as Zeus. The display runs from March 6 to May 25, and will then travel to other international cities, including London, Vienna, and Washington.
